🕌 1) Chishtiya Order
🕌 1) Chishtiya Order
Four great Sufi saints from Afghanistan came to India:
✨ Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (d. 1233 — Ajmer)
✨ Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki (d. 1236 — Delhi)
✨ Nizamuddin Auliya (d. 1335 — Delhi)
✨ Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar (d. 1265 — now in Pakistan)
All of them belonged to the Chishtiya Order.
🌍 Spread of Chishtiya Order
Under Nizamuddin Auliya, this order spread from Delhi to all parts of India, even moving southwards during the time of Muhammad bin Tughlaq.
Famous shrines include:
🕋 Ajmer Sharif — in Rajasthan
🕋 Nizamuddin Dargah — in Delhi
🤝 Harmony with Hindu Bhakti Saints
Some Chishti Sufis:
✔ interacted peacefully with Hindu saints
✔ even used Hindi language
✔ sang devotional songs
But later, orthodox Ulema, with support from rulers, demanded:
“Back to Shariat” ⚖️
Even though Sufis and Ulema had differences, Shariat remained a common bond between them. Eventually, both groups cooperated to gain favor from rulers 🏰.
