🇵🇰🤝🇨🇳 Pak–China Geo-Economic Cooperation
🇵🇰🤝🇨🇳 Pak–China Geo-Economic Cooperation
🌍 Background: Why Pakistan Values China
There are growing concerns in Pakistan about the unfair and biased policies of the United States. During his presidency, Barack Obama visited India twice, strengthening US–India trade and business relations. Both countries agreed to cooperate more closely in defence, economy, and civilian nuclear technology. The US also repeatedly supported India’s request for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council (UNSC).
The US wants a strategic partnership with India mainly to reduce China’s influence in South and Southeast Asia. This approach encourages India to play a leading role in the Asia-Pacific region. However, this policy pushes Pakistan to the sidelines, which is not good for regional peace and stability.
After 9/11, terrorism increased sharply and became a major threat for both Pakistan and China. To help counter this threat, China provides military assistance to Pakistan.
🕊️ Working Together for Peace in Afghanistan
Pakistan and China closely cooperate to promote peace and security in the region, especially in Afghanistan. Stability in Afghanistan is very important for both countries because:
✅ They share borders with Afghanistan
✅ Terrorist safe havens inside Afghanistan threaten their security
✅ Peace helps trade and connectivity
Both nations strongly believe that the Afghan conflict cannot be solved through war alone. Instead, the solution should be:
✨ Political
✨ Afghan-led
✨ Afghan-owned
They fully support dialogue and peace talks, rather than military confrontation.
🚀 The Birth of CPEC — A Game Changer
In April 2015, during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan, both countries announced the beginning of a historic economic transformation — the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 🌟
What is CPEC? 🇨🇳➡️🇵🇰
CPEC is a huge package of investment projects that includes:
🛣️ New transport routes
⚡ Power & energy projects
🏭 Industrial zones
📦 Trade & logistics networks
It connects China with Pakistan’s US$300-billion economy and strengthens an already deep strategic friendship.
CPEC includes three major north–south corridors and aims to:
✔ Upgrade Pakistan’s roads & railways
✔ Increase electricity production
✔ Expand industry & jobs
✔ Improve trade links
💰 Largest Investment in Pakistan’s History
The Chinese investment under CPEC is the biggest inflow of foreign capital Pakistan has ever received since 1947. In fact, its value is almost double the total US economic and military aid Pakistan received after 2001 during the War on Terror.
Pakistan’s economy had been growing at about 4% per year. With CPEC, experts expect the GDP growth to rise by another 2%, helping Pakistan achieve:
🌱 Economic stability
🤝 Regional integration
🏗️ Development & infrastructure growth
🛡️ Defence Cooperation Growing Stronger
Alongside economic ties, defence and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China continues to expand. China is now more confident on the world stage and is taking on greater international responsibilities.
As part of this cooperation, both countries signed a US$5-billion deal for the sale of eight advanced submarines to Pakistan — a major step in strengthening Pakistan’s naval defence ⚓🇵🇰
⭐ Summary — A Friendship of Trust & Growth
Pakistan and China share:
🤝 Strong friendship
🌍 Shared regional goals
🛡️ Security cooperation
🚧 Economic partnership through CPEC
CPEC is not just an economic project — it is a symbol of long-term strategic trust, helping Pakistan move toward development, stability, and prosperity 🚀✨
